IBM's Tablet PC

I wrote awhile back about some of the specs on this system. Well, now it seems the forthcoming IBM tablet (potentially named the X50) has been seen in the wild.

I've resisted the urge to get the Toshiba M200 so far, but I may have to come up with a reason to replace my Acer when this comes out. I wonder what the battery life is going to be - I heard it's pretty good on the X40.

Since this post was originally posted, IBM (or rather, Lenovo) has released their X41 tablet. I haven't yet used one - but there are plenty of folks who have. See, e.g., Greg Hughes' great review.

Those LG-IBM spec's are NOT this one. This is a pure ThinkPad Tablet PC. LG was but a field-beta test of sorts. But it won't be called “X40”, as the x40 is discontinued - the series is still around but the part and model numbers have moved on. Also Dell forthcoming, they pitched out a call for Active Digitizer tech around June 2003...so post-2005 OS, IBM and Dell. But one thing in the M200’s favor, the Pentium M 725 (745/755) models (PPM21U-02LDD4) are now going for $1949, price reduction already, catch being the 256 meg default config, but otherwise looks good. M 725, 1.6 GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 400MHz FSB, 40 Gig, 802.11b/g. No change to the physical makeup.

Thanks for the info.

Either way, looks like I may have to upgrade after the new models are released... Pentium M 900mhz with Intel Graphics isn't cutting it for me any more :)

Also note - I said it would be called the X50, that's what they mentioned on engadget.
